Primary Investigator “B” has been in state law enforcement for twenty-five years.
From 1990 to 1994, he worked as an undercover detective assigned to a federally-funded narcotics task force located in Northeast Ohio. In that position, he participated in the investigation, indictment, and conviction of hundreds of individuals and organizations involved in trafficking narcotics in that area.
From 1994 to 2005, he worked as commander of the same task force. In that capacity, he supervised and participated in thousands of additional investigations of narcotics conspiracy and trafficking cases, and successfully obtained indictments and convictions to conclude these investigations. Hundreds of these cases required working in conjunction with agencies of the United States government, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Internal Revenue Service, Secret Service, and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio.
In addition, he planned, supervised, and participated in hundreds of tactical raids to effect arrest and search warrants on individuals, properties, and businesses relative to task force narcotics investigations. Administratively, he managed and coordinated federal grant applications and reporting requirements, performed internal audit functions, and oversaw the acquisition of forfeited properties and the destruction of illegal narcotics and other evidence.
Under his leadership, the task force received a commendation from the Turkish government for assisting in the apprehension and conviction of Armenian terrorist Mourad Topalian in 2001 and the Attorney General’s Ohio Distinguished Law Enforcement Group Achievement Award in 2006.
